Our Commitment to You:
We reveal all of our costs during the project...
If the work proceeds faster than planned or the materials
cost less...
We refund or reduce the cost of the project.
It’s
a win/win concept that works very well.

Our first contact begins with a telephone consultation where we
discuss your historic restoration requirements.
First, we ask fact-finding
questions in order to understand the nature and extent of the
problem you are having with your historic property and to learn what,
if anything, has been done in the past to correct the problem. We
take into consideration your targeted time frame to begin the restoration
work; of course, problems of an urgent nature (e.g., a sagging roof
truss or leaking parapet) are quickly responded to within a matter
of days.
Then an onsite visit is scheduled when a needs analysis will be perform and
and an estimate prepare. We travel where we are needed. Charges for
the estimate will include the cost of travel to your location and
a daily fee. The time required to assess your restoration requirements depends on the extent of the problems, though we will
be happy to provide you with a “not-to-exceed” cost to
conduct the estimate/needs analysis over the phone. And, if it takes
us less time or the travel expense is less than we originally planned,
you pay less.
The preliminary project timeline will give you an idea of the scope
of work involved and the cost of the restoration project. If you
decide to proceed with the project we will supply the necessary documentation, design work, specifications, engineering and an actual resource timeline
that specifies by whom and when each task will be performed. We can
supply everything you need to carry out your restoration project
or, if you prefer, we can work with your own architect, engineer
and contractor.
As you may know, no information source exists to provide support
to designers charged with the task of estimating historic preservation
or restoration activities. Preservation Trades Company is the only
firm that possesses a Historic Restoration Knowledge Base and is
willing to share it with the caretakers of historic property. We
can combine our efforts with yours to design and implement a restoration
project without the headaches that come with change orders, modifications
and complications that are so prevalent in the industry.
Our Preservation Planning System Saves You Money
Our Preservation Planning System can give you the reliable information
you need to avoid expensive historic condition surveys and studies
that can drain your budget before the work even begins. Unlike
any other contractor we sit on your side of the table. Before the
work begins we provide all the costing information and design services
that you need. You won’t have to repeat the process of
reinventing historic methods and materials that we have used
time and time again. We already know what methods and materials
are available, so why pay someone to reinvent them for you? We
carefully plan every detail of the work and combine tasks where
possible to save you money.
Example:
Let’s say you are the caretaker
of a historic church that is need of restoration. You have
a slate roof that needs to be replaced. The stone steeple
is also in disrepair and needs to be restored. Double the
manpower?
With Preservation Trades Company’s
planning services and historic restoration knowledge, we
can perform these two tasks simultaneously, resulting in
a substantial savings over the cost of mobilizing two separate
work crews. |
With the rising cost in both labor and materials, it is important to
plan every detail of the work very carefully so that it is cost-effective.
Our planning system identifies opportunities to save on restoration
costs while maximizing the efficient coordination of the work itself.
Example:
The same historic church is undergoing restoration.
Only this time, the window frames need to be restored, and
the stucco coating needs to be replaced. Is there an opportunity
to reduce the costs associated with these projects?
Preservation Trades Company finds a common denominator: Scaffolding.
By synchronizing these tasks, you save on the cost associated
with setting up the scaffolding for two separate projects. |
With our discovery process and project planning capabilities, you
can minimize the chances of incurring change orders and expensive
modifications that plague most historic restoration projects. No
matter how small or large your project, we can help you gain the
upper hand in the discovery, design and restoration phases. Our qualified
staff members can help you with any step of the process, including
the discovery phase, the development of a project timeline, the sequencing
of tasks, real-time cost evaluation and realistic methods and materials.
And, if you cannot source the craftsmen, we can do the work for you.
Our goal is to help you preserve your historic property and to do
so with out wasting your limited resources. With Preservation Trades
Company as your project manager, we will prioritize the work, sequence
the tasks, estimate the cost and take control of the project… so it doesn't take control of you. |
